A safe haven counseling process provides a safe space for a child or survivor to discuss their concerns and problems with a counselor who cannot be compelled to testify about the sessions. A court may order safe haven counseling in Arizona to ensure the counselor has doctor-patient privilege and their records cannot be subpoenaed. Safe Haven counselors may speak to court appointed individuals such as Court Appointed Advisors, Custody Evaluators, etc.
